He has adapted to my husband and me very quickly and is quite intelligent. We hope he doesn’t grow up to be smarter than we are! “My experience with Traci of Crooked Creek Cairn Terriers was exceptional. After being married for a short while, my husband and I decided to get a puppy as our “practice baby”. We decided on a Cairn Terrier early on after meeting a Cairn and his owner who lived in our apartment building. We fell in love with the dog and decided to research this adorable breed and breeders in the Chicago land area. We came across Crooked Creek’s information on the Internet. I placed a call to Traci and my call was promptly returned. All of my questions were answered and I received an email that same day with additional information. After contacting and visiting a few other breeders in the suburbs, it was clear that the knowledge, quality of facilities, and willingness to share information paled in comparison to that of Traci at Crooked Creek. Even though we had not visited Traci at her facilities before purchasing our puppy (a 3hr drive from Chicago) she was kind enough to send us a video tape with detailed commentary on the puppies and their environment. Having this video not only gave us a “real life” look at the puppies and facilities, but showed us that Traci is a true professional who goes above and beyond to put potential buyers at ease. I learned Traci had a couple puppies left from a recent litter and felt comfortable enough to send a deposit right away. Before we knew it we had our baby! In August 2004, Traci of Crooked Creek Cairn Terriers provided our family with a well-bred beautiful female cairn. We have only praise and thanks for Traci for caring for our cairn, Flora, in her infancy. From the moment we expressed interest in her Cairns, Traci made herself accessible by the way of telephone and e-mail to address our questions concerning the breed, the kennel, directions to Newton, IL and whatever else we wanted to know. From Flora’s birth on, Traci kept us in the know of Flora’s health and appearance with emails and digital photos. The contract to buy the Cairn was very clear and binding. On picking up Flora from Crooked Creek, Traci allowed us as much time as we needed to ask more questions, take pictures, meet Flora’s mom, dad, and siblings, etc. Flora’s den was spacious and clean. Most importantly to us, Traci, unlike many breeders of AKC-registered breeds, wasn’t overly inquisitive and skeptical about us as potential buyers. She made a character judgment before sending out the contract rather than making us fill out an extensive questionnaire. Flora meets all the physical standards of her breed and we can’t express our gratitude enough to Traci.

It was a real pleasure working with Traci. When contacted Traci she was very informative about Cairns and answered all our questions. She was very up-front and honest. You have been a joy to deal with and I respect your advise, comments, honesty, quick responses, and willingness to answer any questions or concerns I have had, especially since I am just getting started in the Cairn World. Keep up the good work as you are an Abreeder in my book and not just a “back yard breeder”. All of your pups come with an AKC registration application and some breeder’s pups don’t qualify to be registered with the AKC. They are register able in other organizations like APRI, CKC or ACA which made me very wary of them. You are concerned about quality and personality in your pups and it shines thru on them. I purchased a male from a large show breeder and when comparing you to a large breeder, they just aren’t able to take the time you spend with your dogs and it shows, as your puppies came very well socialized and nearly house broken when they arrived! 'We purchased two male Cairns from Traci on August 14, 2006 after we had a bad experience of purchasing a Cairn puppy from a pet store in Florida. We lost our little 'Lou' at 9 months old due to a genetic liver disease. Before we had purchased him, we had lost our Cairn companion of 17 1/2 years, so in a matter of 5 months, we had lost two members of our family. I looked up on the Internet for Cairn breeder and saw the site for 'Crooked Creek Cairn Terriers'. I was very impressed with her web site and knew that was where we wanted to purchase our next Cairn. Traci was very helpful and informative and answered all of my questions. We decided we wanted another Cairn, so we sent our deposit for a first choice male puppy. Several weeks later we decided we wanted two puppies, so when we went down to pick out our puppy, we gave her a deposit for the second one. We now have 'Cody' and 'Al' and our household is not lonely anymore. These puppies are wonderful, playful and full of mischief. We will be heading to our winter home in Florida, so these puppies are going to get used to traveling and enjoying the warm weather. We were very impressed with how clean and well kept the kennels were. When we took our puppies to our Vet, he was amazed at how wonderful they looked and that they had already been microchiped.'
