"When I finally decided that a cairn was the right dog for me I searched the internet for breeders. I called several but when I spoke with Traci I knew that she was the one from the first phone conversation. We talked for a while about her dogs and her breeding ethics and she answered all my questions. I could tell that she truly loves her dogs. She kept in touch with me throughout the whole process letting me know what was going on and how the dogs were doing. I finally got to pick up my puppy in August 2006 and she is absolutely precious! My husband and I were very impressed with how clean her kennels were kept and she took time to answer all our questions. You can tell that she had been properly socialized and well taken care of from day one.
Thank you Traci for all the time and effort you put in to raising such beautiful cairns.

"We purchased two male Cairns from Traci on August 14, 2006 after we had a bad experience of purchasing a Cairn puppy from a pet store in Florida. We lost our little 'Lou' at 9 months old due to a genetic liver disease. Before we had purchased him, we had lost our Cairn companion of 17 1/2 years, so in a matter of 5 months, we had lost two members of our family. I looked up on the Internet for Cairn breeder and saw the site for 'Crooked Creek Cairn Terriers'. I was very impressed with her web site and knew that was where we wanted to purchase our next Cairn. Traci was very helpful and informative and answered all of my questions. We decided we wanted another Cairn, so we sent our deposit for a first choice male puppy. Several weeks later we decided we wanted two puppies, so when we went down to pick out our puppy, we gave her a deposit for the second one. We now have 'Cody' and 'Al' and our household is not lonely anymore. These puppies are wonderful, playful and full of mischief. We will be heading to our winter home in Florida, so these puppies are going to get used to traveling and enjoying the warm weather. We were very impressed with how clean and well kept the kennels were. When we took our puppies to our Vet, he was amazed at how wonderful they looked and that they had already been microchiped.

"My husband and I bought a male (aka Bruno) from Maggie and Bentley's May 2006 litter. Bruno and I just finished our beginning obedience class. He was so easy to train, and seems to really love learning new things. I think he even enjoys our training sessions (both at class and at home) more than his walks. He knows sit, down, stay, come, leave it (great for when Arden drops his pacifiers on the floor, which Bruno loves),roll over, beg, and he walks politely on his leash. We also have all sorts of games that we play together and he catches on so quickly and loves to play. Sometimes if I'm not paying attention to him he'll come over to me and go through his entire repetoire of tricks all on his own until I notice and play with him! He was the star of obedience class today. He showed off his tricks to the rest of the class and he was the only one that could roll over and beg. None of the others in the class could get their dogs to roll over, but Bruno did it like a pro, then would pop back up ready to go again! The instructor said she was really impressed with him and told me that I was very lucky to have such a cooperative and eager-to-learn terrier. She said that many terriers were difficult to obedience train but that Bruno was just a delight to have in her class. 'What a dog!' she said. :) Kudos to you! We got a diploma and everything with our names on it. Maybe it's silly, but I want to display it somewhere. I'm really proud of Bruno and how hard he works and concentrates when we're training. All that and he's only 5 months old! Even when he's off track or distracted, our instructor still says 'He's too cute!' and has the entire class laughing. He's such a ham and loves the spotlight. He's truly a joy. Thank you Traci for giving us such a wonderful companion, family member, and playmate for our son and our other dogs. I wholeheartedly recommend Crooked Creek Cairn Terriers to anyone who is looking for an intelligent, bright, happy-go-lucky, and sweet natured dog to their family. We couldn't have asked for a better dog or a better breeder to purchase him from.

Hi, Traci. We have been enjoying Piper. She can be quite comical and is a sweetheart of a pooch. She has been stubborn to potty train but we have finally gotten past accidents in the house (she uses training pads and goes outside). We've begun obedience training and she is doing very well with that. She is one smart little cookie! Her coloring is beautiful; her coat is exactly the coloring I had hoped for! When I get a chance I'll send you a current photo. She is a very healthy happy girl. I still enjoy peeking at your website from time to time to see your new puppies. It's so much fun to look! I am so glad we've added Piper to our family; the children love her and enjoy merry games of chase around the house. Piper likes to hide from them under the furniture! I also get a kick out of her barking at me when she needs water (she loves ice cubes) or food. She won't quit barking unless you check her bowls. Once I pick up her water dish she is thrilled (wags her tail and follows me to the sink). Our vet just loved seeing her when we took her in for all of her shot series at the appropriate times. He would love on her and carry her around. I don't know if I told you that he was very impressed with your immunization records for Piper, as well as the microchipping, etc. He asked me how I found such an excellent breeder and I said via internet research and talking with you on the phone. Keep up the good work!

Best wishes and warmest regards,
Rochelle Joseph

'Hamish is ridiculously wonderful and is doing really well. He fits right in like he's been here all along. Words fail to convey how happy we are with him and how grateful we are to you for all you've done to ensure that he is as he is. He went to our vet for the first time today. Dr. Wright is a veterinarian, but he is also a breeder. He used to breed Yorkies, and is now breeding 'bird-dogs'. He was REALLY impressed with Hamish: dewclaws removed (sign of a breeder who knows what she's doing), a nice, square bottom, tight knees, remarkably well behaved and low-key for a Cairn puppy, and so on. He was very complimentary towards you, and his opinion only rose as we talked about you for a few minutes! Thanks so much for everything, again, and I'll be in touch soon!'

"From the first conversation with Traci I felt
completely at ease. She was friendly and
knowledgable, and it was obvious that she truly loves
her dogs. What I didn't know at that time was how
much I would come to rely on her throughout the
process of adopting a new puppy. She truly went above
and beyond to make sure that I was confident and
prepared for my new arrival. I continue to be amazed
at Cooper's personality; a true testimony to good
breeding. He bonded so quickly to me and LOVES
people. He is absolutely delightful and steals the
show everywhere we go. Besides being a beautiful dog,
he is so sweet and charming. I will definately buy my
next dog from Crooked Creek when the time comes, and
would recomend Traci to anyone looking to add a loving
pet to their family!

'Hi Traci. I certainly would be willing to recommend your kennel to anyone who asked. I had a wonderful experience with you. I was especially happy with your prompt replies to all my questions, sensible and non. I was initially impressed with your advice about not getting two puppies at once. Whenever anyone passes on easy money it's always a good sign. We couldn't be happier with our puppy. He's just a delight. I love being a part of the Crooked Creek family.
Talk with you soon.

Traci:
I bought my first Cairn Terrier in 1975. I have one in the house ever since. The third one is now 16 years old so it was time to look for another puppy. Searching the internet, I discovered Crooked Creek Cairn Terriers. It seemed just what I was looking for. A small operation with concern and compassion for both the puppy and the prospective purchaser. I did not want to deal with a puppy mill or a breeder in it for the money. I exchanged emails with you and talked with you on the phone. My intial impression was confirmed. So I decided to apply for a puppy.

What a great decision! I picked up Nick in early May and he is everything one could want with this breed. He is very good looking and I think I could show him if I had any interest in that. He is inquistive and intelligent. He is a bundle of energy when playing but is very calm the rest of the time. He has been easy to train and loves going to training class. Nick is very confident and not afraid of new things or situations. But the most striking thing about Nick is his personality. He loves people-all people. I feel like the Pied Piper when I take Nick for a walk because we usually attract a group of children that want to play with Nick. He just loves that attention and would stay all day with the children if I let him. My children come over and sit on the floor and Nick steps right up and sits on their laps. I have loved all my dogs through the years but this one is so very special.

If I ever get to the point that I think I could handle two dogs, you will be the first person I contact. Dealing with you was upfront-no surprises-and a pleasure. Please feel free to use me as a reference

I just want to say that Traci is truly the best! She is very dedicated to her dogs and loves each of them. They are very much a part of her family. Her knowledge of the breed is vast and, even as an expert breeder, she continues to want to learn more and grows as a breeder because of it. She is easy to talk to, very professional, and has a personal touch that shows she cares. Any questions I had I knew I could email her and the answer was literally just hours away. A quote from one of her first emails to me was “I’m always glad to help people make good decisions, even if they don't choose the Cairn or a puppy by me.” So I knew it wasn’t about the sale of a puppy to Traci, but about quality puppies, ethical breeding, and making sure her dogs are placed in forever homes. Even though she didn't have a brindle female available when I was ready, she more than once helped me when I was looking around. I felt like I had an expert friend by my side!! After months of searching, I realized it would be best to wait for one of Traci’s puppies and it was worth it! From the get go she kept in contact about how Mama and the puppies were doing. She sent pictures and kept me updated on their progress. When I went to see the puppies, I saw firsthand how nice her kennel was. I loved all of her dogs! They are all so sweet and I was very impressed on how quite and well behaved they were.

When “Maggie” came home with us she fit into our family like she had always been here. Even the car ride home was stress free! I fully expected nights of sleeplessness from a crying puppy in her crate, but instead she seemed content to know we were near. She is 16 wks old now and is doing great with the potty training and already she knows so many commands and tricks. She is always eager to learnespecially for a treat!! She loves everyone and everyone loves her! She has been the best little puppy and I would definitely wait for a Cairn from Traci again!!! I thank her so much for ALL the extra things she did for me. She went over and beyond what anyone else would have done for sure. She has become a sweet, dear friend and I am honored to be part of her Cairn family!!! Thank you, Traci, for a happy, well adjusted dog!
