Our puppies receive dewclaw removal and a series of 3 de-wormings. The puppies receive their 1st & 2nd shots at 5 and 8wks, a thorough vet check, AVID microchipping, and health papers are provided if needed for their transport/shipping. We will register the new owner's information for the AVID microchip for $15. 
GUARANTEE We give a 3 day money back guarantee for health. Within 3 days of receiving your puppy, take them to your veterinarian for a full check up. If our veterinarian missed something, return your puppy with a letter from your veterinarian describing the defect. We will happily refund the purchase price, or replace the puppy with an available puppy. I guarantee you a healthy puppy, free of major defects or communicable disease. We do not give refunds after the 3 day guarantee period, which includes partial refunds. We give a 2 year health guarantee against hereditary and congenital defects. Should your puppy die within 2 years of life, of a hereditary or congenital defect, we will replace it with the next available puppy of equal value. To qualify for a replacement puppy, we request notification within 24 hours of diagnosis of the defect by a licensed veterinarian. All medical records will be provided to us. Also necessary for a replacement puppy is a postmortem exam citing the microchip number of the puppy, and a necropsy specifying that the cause of death was due to the hereditary or congenital defect. We do not guarantee color, confirmation, or cosmetic defects. If a puppy is sold for breeding and it's health is found to be incompatible with breeding, the buyer agrees to spay or neuter the dog. With proof of spaying or neutering without the dog being bred, and a letter from the buyer's veterinarian describing the health defect, a refund will be issued to make the value of the dog equal to pet value at the time of the refund.
We keep our families updated on their puppy's growth with pictures at 3 and 5-6wks of age. Puppies may go home at 8-10 weeks of age. With their puppy they receive a sample of Canidae brand puppy food, parent pedigrees, AKC registration application, AVID microchip certificate, a guide to puppy's health care, an AKC educational folder, lots of information and a lifetime of advice.
If, for any reason, the buyer is unable to keep the puppy for its lifespan, the buyer will notify the breeder, and agrees to find the puppy a quality, suitable home. They WILL NOT place the puppy in a shelter, rescue, or unsuitable home, or euthanize if the puppy is suitable as a pet. As the breeder, I am available for assistance and advice, and require that I be inolved in the placement of a dog that the buyer is unable to keep. The buyer agrees to provide all appropriate health care and make decisions for the life of the puppy that are reasonable and compassionate.
We accept deposits to hold a puppy choice that is currently available from a litter (ie 1st choice female, 2nd choice female, 1st choice male, 2nd choice male etc). Although we attempt to keep the process fair, the puppy choice is not held for a buyer until the deposit is received. Upon receipt of the deposit, we mail 2 copies of our contract for the buyer to read, sign, and return 1 copy. Puppies are then chosen at 6 wks of age either in person or by photos. If a family would like to choose in person, we will meet them in a public place so they may interact with the puppies. Due to personal threats and the risk associated with the internet, we no longer accept visitors at our home. Buyers are welcome to view the facilities and other dogs through photos on our website. Feel free to contact our references. We may ask for references and photos of your home as well.
Deposits are nonrefundable unless a puppy is not born to a litter. A buyer may transfer a deposit to the next available puppy, but the deposit is considered forfeited if a litter or puppy is not chosen to transfer to within 30 days. Families who adopt a puppy from Crooked Creek Cairn Terriers will place a $200 deposit, that is refunded upon proof that their puppy has been spayed or neutered. The spay or neuter will be completed by 6 months of age. The attending vet will then send a letter citing the microchip number of the puppy, and the surgery performed to Crooked Creek. When we receive confirmation that the puppy has had it's surgery, we'll refund the $200 deposit. If the puppy has not been spayed or neutered by 6 months of age, the deposit is forfeited. Our program will give an incentive to keep buyers on track with timely spaying and neutering. It will also keep buyers honest in their intentions when they know they can not purchase a pet puppy and then breed it to produce "pure bred puppies without papers".
